Description

Learn all the basics of patchwork while making this modern Bauhaus-style lap quilt in your choice of fabrics.

Patchwork is a great way to keep your brain active, develop your creativity, relax and socialise with like-minded people.

In this workshop you will learn how to:

  • Safely use all the tools such as rotary cutters, patchwork rulers, cutting mats…
  • Accurately cut and assemble your pieces
  • Make a large range of traditional patchwork “blocks” that are the basis for many quilt designs
  • Accurately match seams
  • Add borders
  • Make up your 3-layer quilt sandwich
  • Quilt your layers on your machine
  • Make, attach and finish off your binding.

By the end of the workshop, you will be well equipped with the knowledge to take on other quilt projects – and finish them off!

The cost includes:

  • Help in choosing your fabrics
  • All tuition and assistance during the three days
  • The use of patchwork rulers, cutting mats and tools during the workshop
  • Advice on what tools to buy
  • Tea, coffee, biscuits freely available throughout.

Bring:

  • Your fabric and wadding (full details on what you need to buy will be provided)
  • Your sewing machine (PAT tested in last 12 months), bobbins, spare needles
  • Coordinating thread for piecing and quilting
  • Sewing kit if you have one
  • Your lunch (although there are plenty of local cafés that do takeaways).
