Learn basic textile art techniques in this highly creative and fun class.

Create a small textile seascape quilt using fabric, and embellish it with stitching, textile paint and other elements. Take home your finished and framed picture, ready to hang on your wall.

Suitable for confident beginners and more experienced sewers.

In this workshop you will learn:

  • The basics of composition and perspective
  • How to choose and place your fabrics to achieve a sense of depth
  • How to use stitching and various materials to create texture and interest
  • How to use fusible web for raw-edge appliqué
  • Free-motion stitching (requires being able to lower the feed dog on your machine)

The cost includes:

  • Fabric and wadding
  • The use of patchwork rulers, cutting mats and rotary cutters
  • Tea, coffee and biscuits freely available throughout.

Bring:

  • Your sewing machine (PAT tested in last 12 months), spare bobbins, spare needles
  • Thread (white, blues, browns, beige,
  • Basic sewing kit (scissors, sewing needles, pins, etc) if you have them but some will be available on the day
  • Your lunch and any additional snacks and drinks you may require.
